RED!!! - CBC BLOGTAG2

Image
This post is part of the Chennai Bloggers Club's CBC VIBGYOR BLOG TAG 2 where some of us will write a post on the colours of VIBGYOR each day starting 1st of May to the 7th of May, 2020. The colour theme for today's post is RED. Red is bold, bright, fiery and basic. Red is powerful even a big train stops before a small red light or a dupatta! Red is the name of an awful movie (subjective) Red is the colour of blood. Red oxide was used as floor tiling for many years before mosaic took over. Red is anger. Red is also blushing from passion & / love! Red apples are more common than their green cousins, so also with capsicums Red is fire. Red is end of the colour spectrum and that means the end of this blog series! All images are courtesy Google and belong to the respective owners. p.s. remember this ad?

YELLOW! - CBC BLOGTAG2

This post is part of the Chennai Bloggers Club's CBC VIBGYOR BLOG TAG 2 where some of us will write a post on the colours of VIBGYOR each day starting 1st of May to the 7th of May, 2020. The colour theme for today's post is YELLOW. If you have been reading my other posts in this series you will know that was partial to Yellow in school and then I expanded my views and preferences.                           Yellow to me is all about the sun. Though it may not be a primary colour, the sun is primary and essential to life. Our lives revolve around the sun as much as the earth revolves around it. The next thought that comes to mind after the sun is the sun flower and a lovely hymn that is connected to it. For over a decade Chennai bleeds Yellow during the IPL though otherwise they bleed Blue. When the CSK team chose the colour and the name, I was one of the skeptics because there was one sect that op...

GREEN! - CBC BLOG TAG 2

Image
This post is part of the Chennai Bloggers Club's CBC VIBGYOR BLOG TAG 2 where some of us will write a post on the colours of VIBGYOR each day starting 1st of May to the 7th of May, 2020. The colour theme for today's post is GREEN. To be quite honest green was not a colour that I liked in my younger days and then I grew up. In the millennium year one song happened in an epic movie that opened my eyes to this beautiful colour. The song begins with green and goes on to many more colours but the song is named green and shows how green signifies new beginnings. Green is the colour of nature and there is something soothing about it. Many childhood days have been spent looking at the passing fields and meadows from the train windows and as you grow and realize that these are the sources of our food the respect for the green fields grew in the mind. On the cricket field if we may bleed blue we are thrilled if the Men in Blue maintain their perfect record in ...

BLUE! - CBC BLOG TAG 2

Image
This post is part of the Chennai Bloggers Club's CBC VIBGYOR BLOG TAG 2 where some of us will write a post on the colours of VIBGYOR each day starting 1st of May to the 7th of May, 2020. The colour theme for today's post is BLUE. Blue is an interesting colour and I have many stories with Blue. Let me begin with school, for many years I belonged to the Yellow house and I was partial to the colour till I came to higher secondary where I passed out as the Asst House Captain of the Blue House, since then that colour became my default colour of choice. School was on the Marina and exam times we could see the horizon where the sky and the sea met in vivid shades of blue. I remember when I used to buy aquamarine Blue for letter writing and that kind of was my signature style for some time till I grew out of fountain pens. School was the time when my music preference was dominated by the King of Pop. The King used contemporary R&B, (Rhythm & Blues) to sweep ...

Violet - CBC series

Image
I have been meaning to get out of the prolonged absence from my blog. So when CBC came up with this prompt I decided to use this opportunity. Then it hit me! This is a colour related series and for someone who is colour challenged, I wondered if I was biting off too much than I can chew! So here goes this is the Vibgyor series and it starts with Violet. Colours for me are basic so simple names are enough to understand what I am seeing.  So Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, Brown, Black, Grey, White, Orange and Violet would be almost all the colours that I will understand.  Cyan, Fuchsia, Magenta, Mauve, Amber, Ochre and some more made me look up a dictionary back then, nowadays I Google it. I have heard people being named Violet, so I wondered why would anyone name after a colour, if not named for the colour and named for a flower, why would anyone go for this flower instead of the popular Rose or Jasmine? I will stop with these as my knowledge of flowers are ...

Its a colour full life!!!

Image
(image courtesy Google Images )  During a pre-employment medical I learned that of the 256K colours in my mobile I can see but very few. It is official; I’m a little colour blind. No I don’t see the world in black, white and shades of grey but if you were to bring me a RmKV multi-colour sari and ask me what are the colours I will call out red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, white, black, grey, pink and brown. Maybe I may get a few more but that’s all, with all due respect to the master weavers of RmKV. The fact of the matter is I cannot discern between shades of the same colour and that makes life simple! I see a red as red irrespective of whether it is called blood orange, safety cone or tomato. To me it’s red. PERIOD. Do you know what a banker’s lamp is? I didn’t till I happened to see it in the shade card . Horror of horrors, it is a green. Even...
